The Story Behind The Layered Workshop
The Layered Workshop was created to explore the intersection of creativity, technology, and curiosity.
I'm Pete Wright, a photographer, author, speaker, marketer, and lifelong maker who believes the best way to learn is by rolling up your sleeves and testing things for yourself.
What started with tinkering, building, and woodworking gradually expanded into a workshop filled with 3D printers, lasers, dye sublimation equipment, electronics projects, fabrication tools, and plenty of experiments that don't always go according to plan.
Through YouTube and this website, I share real-world testing, product reviews, maker projects, and what I like to call "Spitball Science"—the process of asking questions, testing ideas, and seeing what actually works.
Why I Created The Layered Workshop
There are plenty of channels that tell you what to buy.
My goal is different.
I want to help people understand how things work.
Whether I'm testing support settings, exploring new 3D printing technologies, evaluating tools, or building something completely ridiculous, the focus is always on learning through experimentation and sharing those discoveries with others.
The Layered Workshop is a place for makers, creators, hobbyists, and anyone who enjoys building, learning, and trying new things.
If you've ever looked at a project and thought, "I wonder what would happen if..." then you're in the right place.
When I'm not filming videos or testing new projects, you'll usually find me in the workshop experimenting with new ideas, designing parts, or trying to answer questions that start with, "I wonder what would happen if..."
Some experiments succeed. Some fail spectacularly. Both make great stories.
The Layered Workshop is built around curiosity, creativity, and hands-on learning. Whether it's 3D printing, fabrication, product testing, or the occasional completely unnecessary experiment, the goal is always the same: learn something new and share it with others.
